WINDHAM, N.Y. (AP) — Flooding from the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee is being blamed for two deaths in Pennsylvania and numerous water rescues and road closures around the soggy Northeast.
In Pennsylvania, a man in his 70s died Wednesday afternoon when the walls of his flooded basement collapsed, and a motorist trapped in a vehicle drowned early Thursday morning.
In New Jersey, two rivers that breached their banks last week and forced residents into shelters are again at risk of flooding.
In the upstate New York city of Binghamton, evacuations have been ordered for areas near a river, and dozens of schools are closed in eastern New York. A major artery in and out of Philadelphia is shut due to flooding and a rock slide.
Flood watches and warnings have been issued from Maryland to New England.
